Spelling/Sight Words

 Parents,

Here is the philosophy behind our approach to spelling tests and weekly spelling practice. 

These are our first quarter spelling patterns for each week.  This will begin the week of September 8-12.  Please note note the words at the bottom of each week's pattern indicate the sight words that will be focused on that week.  The circled words will be tested on our Friday Spelling test.  The sight words that are not circled will still need to be able to be read by each student.

Below you will find the list of first grade sight words for your child.  We will work on a few each week in class as indicated on the spelling information above.  It is very helpful if students have been working on these words at home along with their nightly reading routine.
